Policy advocacy group Beltway Grid analyzed the legal opinion by Hugh Southey of Matrix Chambers, saying that those serving as trustees are expected to be transparent and honest.
In the analysis, it was further said that in the context of founding PTI, these questions have been raised whether they fulfill these requirements.
The analysis also stated that while the chancellor is expected to represent Oxford’s global interests and values, the chancellor is also expected not to seek political office by assuming the position.
The Oxford Alumni Community of Pakistan denied opposing or endorsing any candidate and said that a few statements in the media did not represent our collective voice.
On the other hand, Imran Khan’s colleague Zulfi Bukhari says that PTI founder’s contesting for the chancellorship of Oxford University is an example of his strength of character and determination.
It may be recalled that 175 former students of Oxford University signed a petition in favor of founding PTI.
Britain’s leading law firm Matrix Chambers has expressed its opinion on the issue of the chancellorship of the founder PTI of Oxford University.
Oxford University had approached Matrix Chambers for an opinion on the eligibility of the founder PTI.
Senior London lawyer Hugh Southey has said that the PTI founder chairman is not eligible for the chancellorship as per the rules of Oxford University.
He further said that the PTI founder was not eligible for the chancellorship of the university due to his criminal conviction in Pakistan.
According to media reports, the Oxford Council’s charity regulations are being reviewed as Founder PTI’s candidate, the university has sought a legal opinion on Bani PTI’s candidature as Chancellor.
